New fail-safe CPU-CPU communication "Flexible F-Link"
With STEP 7 Safety V15.1, a new fail-safe CPU-CPU communication "Flexible F-Link" is available for the fail-safe S7-1200 and S7-1500 CPUs. This enables fail-safe data to be easily exchanged between two fail-safe CPUs as a fail-safe array using standard communication mechanisms.
Flexible F-Link offers several advantages for exchanging fail-safe data:
Grouping of the fail-safe data to be transferred into F-conformant PLC data types (UDTs)
Up to 100 bytes of fail-safe data per UDT
Support of fail-safe data types
Easy parameter assignment and automatic generation of fail-safe communication DBs
Transfer of fail-safe data with standard communication blocks even across network boundaries
F-runtime group communication for F-CPUs 1200/1500
System-integrated and worldwide sufficiently unique F-Communication UUID
Separate F-communication address signature for easy recognition of changes of the F-communication UUID
F-OB preprocessing and postprocessing
To simplify configuring and for easy-to-follow timing, especially in the context of fail-safe communication using Flexible F-Link, STEP 7 Safety Version V15.1 provides the option of placing standard blocks around the F-runtime groups for the purpose of preprocessing and postprocessing process values.
Variable communication ID (DP_DP_ID)
Starting in Version V15.1, STEP 7 Safety provides the option of assigning variables instead of constants to the communication IDs (DP_DP_IDs) needed for the SENDDP and RCVDP blocks. This allows use of safety programs with the same collective F-signature in systems with a variety of identical I-devices. The variable communication ID thus enables simplified commissioning, maintenance and project management.
